I received two very interesting responses from last week’s blog. I am including these emails below. So here is more sugar blues…
Most people need to eat so do keep in mind that everybody is a little different. Some persons have major intolerances, food allergies and some us just want to live healthier and perhaps un peu thinner. Some of you are Vegan, Vegetarian or Blood Type O meat eaters. Always do what is appropriate for you!

Simple sugar like white sugar l call white poison! Sugar als feeds cancer, helps it grow n spread. May l suggest you stop wheat carb and use buckwheat bread’and millet breads! Use organic popcorn in coconut n ghee butter to fill cravings
!!! Fills one up no harm totally non fattining! Eat more lean meats like beef buffalo and lamb …..you will food cravings will diminish! Lots a greens, use millet ,buckwheat ,quinoa as grains and replace wheat pasta’s with these. Use only organic honey or a little maple syrup! WHITE SUGAR KILLS.

Great post – I’ve forwarded it to my friends who have a bottom drawer filled with candy that they let their kids dip into whenever they want and those kids are sugar-holics. I’m hoping they read the whole article because the facts are good.
Here is what I wrote to them about my own relationship with sugar that I want to share with you. I’d like to ask your permission to post this with a link to your article on my FB page. Just let me know if you’d like me to spread the word about your work.
I know I’m the sugar nazi. Probably, what you don’t know is that sugar is my drug of choice: a quick burst of energy, a calming for my mind when I’m stressed, a treat when I’m feeling put upon… I’ve been having a fairly intense dance with sugar my whole life. It represents sweetness in my life – the sweetness that was lost from our family when my dad died. (Everything became all business, get it done, keep the family going for my mom. Who she was when my dad was alive was not who she felt she could be after he was gone and she was our sole support and our defense against the world. I started eating a teaspoon of powdered sugar every day when I got home from school.)
My friend Kyra is a former dancer and she has written a very good article about sugar with lots of facts I didn’t know – even after my lifetime dancing with sugar. She is fun, insightful, and knowledgeable about the body and mind.
I love sugar – not candy, but give me some good cookie dough any day!! Also, I LOVE good homemade bread! I could just eat bread and butter (oh being in Europe and having the delicious rolls with butter and coffee for breakfast – heaven!)
I’ve been drinking a cup of water every morning with juice from half a lemon and 1/4 t. of salt and I’m not having any sugar cravings these days, even when sugar is around I have no trouble skipping it or eating only a small portion. This makes it much easier for me to choose healthy substitutes.
Thanks for the good article and yeah, I’d like to be thinner but I’m going for slimmer – doubt I’ll ever get down to my dancing weight again. (Not sure I’d want to, it was basically underweight for my body type and at one point I was substituting sugar calories for protein calories and that was depleting my body in all kinds of not good ways. I went to a good nutritionist in NYC [did you ever meet Lisa Cosman?] and she got me off the sugar train and back into a balanced diet. I was healthy and thin, and I still had to work pretty intensely to stay at my dancing weight.)
May the Ease Be with You!
