Love, what’s Love got to do with it? Women, both young and older, and even men, come to me to help them resolve their issues around love. Love Somatic Therapy means dialoging with your emotional heart experienced in your body. Sometimes it is necessary even to go back to how you bonded with your mother, as a child or even in the womb. Yes, a part of you remembers it all. (I even have a special course for this called Prenatal Regression…and Past-Lives sessions and courses, if needed)
Insights expressed through dialogue with your own self can inspire you to shift your emotional love drama. You can rewrite the script. Through Somatic Therapy Sessions you can unwind and re-navigate your issues and dysfunctional attachments to being capable of loving and being loved. This work goes beyond talk therapy and allows you to embody your solutions.
The Core Challenge: Learning to Love Yourself
A key issue is loving yourself. So many people identify with a critical subpersonality which denigrates them. If it becomes obvious that loving yourself is problematic, I am often asked: “How can I love myself?” If you are also carrying the weight of a broken relationship, exploring healing heartache somatically can be a powerful first step toward opening your heart again.
Baby Steps: Practical Self-Love Through Daily Care
In a sense, one does this with baby steps. You can show/demonstrate to yourself that you love yourself by taking care of yourself. Begin with the most practical and obvious. Sleep, Eat, Move.
Eat well, not fast food, at regular times. Give your yourself an hour or two to slow down for bed. Use herbal remedies if needed. Sleeping drugs are not only addictive but have side affects. Make time to enjoy and move. Walking, dancing, sports, yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong. Do whatever is nourishing and age-appropriate for you. And do not forget about Looking Good!
Balancing Giving and Receiving Love
Women are often great at giving and not so good at receiving love. If this is true for you, it is possible with simple physical gestures to begin the process of allowing love to come to you. This is especially true if making yourself indispensable does not make you happy. Healing this pattern often deepens when we explore community and the healing heart—how our connections with others mirror and support our capacity to receive
